About Us

Kaloka Coffee is an extraordinary single-origin Indonesian Coffee grown spreads across two producing regions in Indonesia, Bondowoso in East Java and Solok in West Sumatera. Both of these regions possess excellent climate and soil conditions for coffee growing. The average coffee farm height is 1000 m above mean sea level with tropical climate and average temperatures oscillating from 16ºC (61°F) low to 30ºC (86°F) high, and an average rainfall of 1400 mm a year. Situated on fertile volcanic soils and surrounded by remnant tropical rainforest of East Java and West Sumatera, the plantations were planted using the Bourbon variety of Coffea arabica.

All of our plantations are in their early phases of development, with planting ongoing and relatively limited production thus far. Production is starting to pick up and will continue to increase in the coming years as the plants reach maturity and our long term sustainability strategy is actualised.

We also source coffee from local farmer surrounding the plantation and treat the local farmers as our important partners by buying their coffee on a direct and fair trade.

Our direct trade coffee means we cut out both the traditional middleman buyers and sellers. This allows us to build mutually beneficial, respectful relationships with the individual and roasters who buy our coffee. Direct trade also gives us more control on aspects like the quality of Kaloka Coffee, social issues surrounding its harvesting and the environment. By fair trade, farmers are paid well so they can provide for their families and our sustainable farming practices help us reduce our environmental footprint.

By starting your day with a cup of Kaloka Coffee, you are drinking coffee for which the farmers earn much more than a regular cup of coffee. That’s why drinking our coffee is a simple act that can make a huge difference.
